The Global Tax Data (GTD) team is seeking a motivated Software Development Engineer to support Amazon's Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance organization. This role focuses on delivering scalable technology solutions to enhance efficiency and empower tax professionals. The engineer will work closely with multiple stakeholders to tackle complex challenges and improve existing systems. The position is based in Seattle and emphasizes collaboration and mentorship within the team.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 3+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design experience

• Tackle tax technology challenges with scalable solutions delivered quickly and efficiently.
• Lead efforts that involve multiple teams and deliver impactful solutions across the R&C organization.
• Act as trusted advisors to R&C customers and engage in complex, business-critical projects.
• Help define requirements, design, build, and rollout technology solutions.
• Manage the complexity of competing needs and timelines while working with multiple stakeholders.
• Support customers through their business cycles by mentoring, troubleshooting, and running processes as needed.
• Understand existing solutions and apply them appropriately while inventing new capabilities when necessary.
• Own specific processes and parts of the technology toolset, providing subject matter expertise and mentorship.
• Listen to customer feedback and expand the toolset to benefit the organization, avoiding point solutions.
