Job description

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President, Software Engineer to enhance the risk management system in New York. The role focuses on designing and architecting the Risk Calculator platform to meet complex business requirements for large hedge fund and institutional clients. The engineer will work on integrating advanced simulation engines and ensuring the platform adheres to industry regulations. This position involves collaboration with business stakeholders and providing mentorship to development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience as a Java/Scala Developer, Senior Manager, Associate, or in a related technology role.
  • Five years of experience with high-performance, low-latency distributed systems.
  • Five years of experience in Java, Python, Spring Boot, SQL, NSQL, hybrid databases, Microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and real-time streaming data processing.
  • Three years of experience with cloud-native deployments including AWS or Azure.
  • Two years of experience with stress testing, Price Value of 01 (PV01), trade lifecycle workflows in equities, fixed income, derivatives, and VaR.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the continuous evolution of the risk management system to support regulatory changes and new business initiatives.
  • Design and architect Risk Calculator platform modules to meet complex business requirements.
  • Integrate advanced simulation engines to forecast portfolio risks under hypothetical market scenarios.
  • Ensure the risk management platform adheres to industry regulations.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to development teams.
  • Design and implement interfaces for automated risk reporting and margin calculation.
