The Security Engineer II role at Amazon Healthcare Security's Detections & Monitoring team focuses on designing, building, and operating detection and monitoring capabilities to protect Amazon Health Services. Requirements
- 5+ years of security-related professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or 2+ years of IT Security experience
- Experience directly working with cloud hosting technologies such as AWS or Azure
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar programming languages
- Experience with log aggregation and analysis platforms like Splunk or ELK
- Experience in Kubernetes, Docker, or the containers ecosystem
- Experience building detection-as-code frameworks or custom detection pipelines
- Understanding of generative AI technologies and security risks in agentic architectures
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements for healthcare data
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain detection-as-code capabilities across cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Develop and deploy detections and monitoring for AI services and agentic applications.
- Build automated investigation and response workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor telemetry data and alerting systems for signs of compromise or abuse.
- Triage and correlate alerts to identify patterns and reduce noise.
- Lead and participate in incident response activities, including detection and investigation.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve observability and embed detection capabilities.
- Identify gaps in visibility and translate threat landscapes into detection solutions.
- Develop and maintain security documentation including detection coverage maps and runbooks.
