Job description
The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role at AWS involves overseeing the testing and validation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in data centers. You will work with a diverse team to ensure construction quality aligns with engineering designs while addressing safety and security standards. Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer License
- Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 25% of the year
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Review design documents and equipment submittals
- Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors
- Audit commissioning vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
- Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager
- Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams
- Communicate lessons learned and participate in initiatives to improve the commissioning program
