Job description

The Performance Modeling Engineer will join the GPU Performance Modeling Team at Apple, focusing on defining and optimizing GPU micro-architecture. This role involves collaborating with experienced designers and architects to analyze workloads, identify bottlenecks, and propose architectural solutions. The engineer will work on performance modeling using C++ and contribute to the development of APIs and tools to enhance Apple's modeling platform. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong coding skills including object-oriented programming with C and C++.
  • Familiarity with a range of performance and/or power simulation environments.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
  • Strong understanding of common data structures and algorithms.
  • Knowledgeable in software design patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of computer architecture and micro-architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform C++ performance modeling of proposed architectural solutions and features.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate measured and simulated results to compare architectural design alternatives.
  • Carefully analyze and present results to enable data-specific architecture and design.
  • Write architectural specification documents in collaboration with engineers across different disciplines.
  • Work with multi-functional teams to develop architectural solutions.
  • Improve Apple's modeling platform by developing APIs, tools, and optimal standard examples.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage.
