The Performance Modeling Engineer will join Apple's GPU Performance Modeling Team, focusing on defining and optimizing GPU micro-architecture. This role involves collaborating with experienced designers to assess and refine architectural ideas while analyzing workloads to identify bottlenecks. The engineer will also architect new simulator features and enhance simulation performance. This position is critical in driving advanced exploration for next-generation GPU architectures.
Requirements
- Minimum of BS degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong coding skills including object-oriented programming with C and C++.
- Familiarity with a range of performance and/or power simulation environments.
- Strong understanding of common data structures and algorithms.
- Knowledgeable in software design patterns.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong knowledge of computer architecture and micro-architecture.
- Ability to work through ambiguities in an uncertain environment.
- Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform C++ performance modeling of proposed architectural solutions and features.
- Gather, analyze, and validate measured and simulated results to compare architectural design alternatives.
- Carefully analyze and present results to enable data-driven architecture and design decisions.
- Write architectural specification documents in collaboration with engineers across different disciplines.
- Work with multi-functional teams to develop architectural solutions.
- Improve Apple's modeling platform by developing APIs, tools, and optimal standard examples.
