Job description

Join Apple's Foundation Model team to shape the data foundation and intelligence for next-generation AI models. This role focuses on developing data strategies and methodologies that enhance model capabilities throughout the training lifecycle. You will collaborate with researchers and engineers to design data-centric solutions that improve reasoning and multimodal understanding. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the capabilities of AI systems used by billions of people.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in LLM or Multi-modal LLM with a publication record in relevant conferences.
  • Proficient programming skills in Python and one of the deep learning toolkits such as JAX, PyTorch, or Tensorflow.
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing data-centric solutions for foundation models, especially large-scale data flywheels.
  • Experience improving foundation models using user interaction data or other real-world feedback signals while maintaining strong privacy and data governance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data strategies, pipelines, and methodologies for model capability across the training lifecycle.
  • Work closely with researchers, engineers, and product teams to identify capability gaps and design solutions.
  • Create high-quality training signals for reasoning, agentic behavior, and multimodal understanding.
  • Engage in large-scale data curation, synthetic data generation, and model ablation.
  • Contribute to evaluation systems and data flywheels that continuously improve model performance.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
