The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) role at AWS involves overseeing the testing and validation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in data centers. This position is part of a diverse team that includes engineers and specialists focused on maintaining high standards for safety and security while optimizing capacity and cost. The CxE will work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with engineering designs and customer requirements. This role offers opportunities for project leadership and collaboration across various teams within AWS.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 25% of the year
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Review design documents and equipment submittals
- Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors
- Audit commissioning vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
- Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager
- Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams
