Job description

This role is for a senior Data Engineer within a startup team at Amazon Ads Finance, focusing on building a finance data platform for the FAIM organization. The team is tasked with creating pipelines and models that transform raw data into actionable insights for new AI advertising products. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, shaping data infrastructure from the ground up without existing frameworks. This position requires a strong technical background and a passion for data quality and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Deep SQL fluency and 3+ years of experience architecting and operating production ETL on Redshift, Andes, or equivalent at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with the Amazon data stack including Datanet/ETLM, Cradle, Andes 3.0, Redshift Spectrum, EDX, and QuickSight.
  • Strong judgment in dimensional data modeling, including fact/dim design and experience with denormalization and partitioning.
  • Proficiency in Python or equivalent for orchestration, data quality automation, and pipeline tooling beyond SQL.
  • Experience in defining data quality, lineage, SLA, and reliability standards.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and turn open-ended finance questions into durable data products.
  • Experience leading data partnerships and mentoring junior engineers.
  • AI-native experience for automation and defect/opportunity identification using tools such as Kiro or Claude Code.
  • 1+ years of experience developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for the FAIM data warehouse, ETL pipelines, and reporting layer.
  • Architect and operate Datanet/ETLM jobs, Cradle profiles, Andes datasets, and dashboards.
  • Integrate telemetry from across Amazon's data ecosystem into a clean, query-ready layer.
  • Deliver on OP1/OP2 cycles, MBR/QBR rhythms, and ad-hoc executive requests.
  • Transform messy, multi-source data into well-documented dimensional models.
  • Drive code and design reviews while setting data quality and pipeline reliability standards.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
