The Senior Software Engineer role focuses on developing technologies for smart home infrastructure, specifically in frontend and protocols. The team is responsible for connecting over 100 million smart home devices with cloud services, ensuring seamless user experiences. Engineers will work on modernizing front ends and deprecating older protocols while managing network connections and data streams. This position requires versatility and leadership as the product landscape evolves.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in C++, Java or Kotlin programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks.
Responsibilities
- Re-evaluate device connectivity services in light of changing requirements and expanding third-party landscape.
- Support the existing production infrastructure by participating in an on-call rotation, capacity planning, and onboarding new devices.
- Migrate traffic to newer protocols capable of handling the latest conversational user journeys.
- Deprecate and reduce the footprints of legacy protocols/services and reduce technical overlap to make existing services easier to own.
- Implement and leverage AI capabilities in performing large infrastructure migrations and refactoring.
