The Software Engineer III position focuses on developing the Android Dialer and Calling Protection features at Google. The role is part of the Calling Protection team, which aims to enhance user safety by leveraging on-device AI for call protection. Engineers in this position will work on modernizing client infrastructure and implementing next-generation safety features for a large user base. This role requires versatility and leadership qualities as engineers tackle various challenges across the full-stack.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with Android application development.
- 2 years of experience with software development in Kotlin programming language.
Responsibilities
- Architect high-throughput reasoning pipelines to ensure real-time ML signals are delivered in minimal time.
- Partner with OEM leaders to scale Google’s AI protection suite to new user bases.
- Own the reliability of 19+ Protection-owned P0 CUIs, ensuring they meet a >99.9% reliability and latency SLO.
- Implement the client-side logic to evolve Call Screen into an intelligent, Gemini-based partner.
- Lead the transition of Protection architecture from legacy stacks to modern frameworks.
