Job description
The Senior Software Engineering Manager for Google Compute Engine will lead and expand software engineering teams while partnering with stakeholders to define and execute the strategic roadmap for Bare Metal and Memory Optimized instances. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills to manage engineers across multiple teams and locations. The manager will oversee the full engineering lifecycle for new offerings and ensure high operational standards for production services. The position is integral to delivering seamless, integrated cloud solutions within Google Cloud's Infrastructure as a Service organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and expand software engineering teams while partnering with stakeholders.
- Drive the full engineering lifecycle for new offerings, managing hardware platform engagement, software development, launch, and post-launch support.
- Oversee secure, scalable system-level architectural design and implementation across virtualization and hardware-software interfaces.
- Align closely with cross-functional hardware, platform, kernel, networking, storage, and SRE teams to deliver seamless, integrated cloud solutions.
- Maintain high operational standards for production services while advocating for customer needs and continuously optimizing development processes.
