Job description
Rivian is seeking a proactive and driven Sr. Quality Engineer to join their Electric Vehicle manufacturing team. This role focuses on leading the response to customer quality issues, ensuring rapid containment on the production line, and conducting thorough root-cause analyses. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing quality and customer satisfaction. This position requires a strong background in quality engineering within the automotive or EV sector.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related field)
- 4+ years of dedicated quality engineering experience, preferably within automotive or EV manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of core quality tools and standards, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and 8D methodology
- Proven experience managing customer complaints and driving containment actions in high-volume production environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead fast-response teams effectively under pressure
- SIX SIGMA Green Belt is a plus
- Must be able to travel at least 20%
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, bilingual is a plus (English / Spanish)
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end customer complaint process for EV manufacturing issues
- React quickly to quality escalations and initiate immediate containment actions on the shop floor
- Lead structured investigations and prepare professional customer-facing reports
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to resolve urgent manufacturing and field quality issues
- Investigate complex component failures using established problem-solving tools
- Conduct production line audits to verify the effectiveness of containment actions
- Provide real-time data analysis and quality feedback to support fast-paced EV production goals
- Update essential quality documents based on lessons learned from field and manufacturing issues
