Job description

The Network Engineer role at Google Distributed Cloud Labs focuses on architecting, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure essential for the lifecycle of GDC products. As part of the Network Engineering team, you will ensure the reliability and efficiency of Google's global network, directly impacting design and feature enhancements. This position requires significant autonomy and technical leadership, as you will lead network projects and mentor other engineers. You will also tackle complex network challenges and collaborate across teams to maintain high standards of network performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting with network equipment providers.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
  • Experience with network architecture, administration, capacity planning, and configuration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure network architectures within GDC lab environments.
  • Drive the deployment, configuration, and management of multi-vendor network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Own and manage core lab network services, including layer 2/3 networking, firewalls, and network security policies.
  • Act as the technical lead for medium to large network projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex, end-to-end network issues, requiring in-depth analysis and cross-team collaboration.
