The Materials Engineering Welding Specialist will join the team in Columbus, IN, focusing on enhancing welding processes and standards. This role involves leading failure analyses, optimizing materials, and advancing technical knowledge sharing. The specialist will also be responsible for building strong networks and driving high-quality decisions to support product integrity. Collaboration across business units is essential to address complex challenges and improve welding proficiency.

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering with a welding focus or in Welding and Joining Technology.
• A minimum of five years of post-graduate welding experience.
• Hands-on expertise in metal inert gas welding, tungsten inert gas welding, laser welding, and resistance joining processes.
• Strong practical experience in aluminum alloys and stainless steels.
• Knowledge of American Welding Society, International Organization for Standardization welding standards, and American Society for Testing and Materials material standards.

• Lead component failure analyses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Select and validate materials and manufacturing routes to ensure robust component capability.
• Produce clear, high-quality technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Establish and maintain consistent welding engineering standards across programs.
• Provide early-stage design guidance and subject matter expertise to prevent issues.
• Coordinate welding expertise across business units to address technical challenges.
• Lead training and development efforts to enhance welding proficiency across teams.
