Job description
The Senior Data Scientist role at Microsoft focuses on leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and predictive modeling to optimize incentive programs and drive business impact. You will work within the Worldwide Incentive Readiness & Rewards team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design solutions that enhance efficiency and deliver insights. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in data science and business acumen in sales compensation. Your work will directly influence strategic decision-making and the alignment of seller behavior with company objectives.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 3+ years data-science experience OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 5+ years data-science experience OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience translating business requirements into data-driven solutions using ML algorithms.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Experience designing, building, or deploying agentic AI systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Define quota-setting strategy aligned with business, customer, and solution objectives.
- Partner cross-functionally to identify opportunities for applying machine learning to quota and incentive design.
- Educate field managers and sales leaders on quota methodology and model mechanics.
- Leverage an understanding of incentive compensation design to inform operations enhancements.
- Design, develop, and implement scalable methods to analyze large datasets for actionable insights.
- Build and maintain data pipelines to ensure high data quality and availability.
- Apply advanced statistical techniques and machine learning models to solve complex business problems.
- Interpret and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders, linking findings to business objectives.
