Job description

The Microsoft Advertising Data Science Team is seeking a data scientist to tackle complex problems in a dynamic environment. This role involves collaborating with engineering, product, and business teams to drive data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with a strong background in data science techniques. The position emphasizes the importance of metrics, experimental design, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience, OR Master's Degree AND 5+ years experience, OR Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least one programming language like Python, R, MATLAB, C#, Java, or C++.
  • Great organizational, analytical, and data science skills.
  • Fantastic problem-solving abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills for cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
  • Experience with real-world system building and data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Define, invent, and deliver metrics to measure user and business value.
  • Think critically about sampling and experimental design.
  • Interpret analysis results and iterate to improve products.
  • Partner effectively with program management, engineers, and other business areas.
  • Engage with stakeholders to produce actionable insights.
  • Make independent decisions and handle difficult tradeoffs.
  • Translate strategy into clear and measurable plans.
