Job description
The Lead Structural Engineer for Ports & Maritime will support Jacobs' team in delivering complex maritime infrastructure projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. This role offers significant growth potential and involves collaboration with global teams to enhance operational improvement and port planning. The engineer will play a key role in overseeing engineering design teams and contributing to technical proposals for various clients, including the Port of Virginia and the US Army Corps of Engineers. The position requires a strong focus on waterfront and maritime projects, ensuring cost-effective and integrated solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in Commonwealth of Virginia, or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months
- 10+ years of experience in ports & maritime planning and design
- 5+ years managing design teams and/or delivering multi-disciplinary engineering assignments
- Design of reinforced concrete and steel structures in a marine environment
- Experience leading the full detailed engineering design of marine structures
- Strong project delivery skills with design management or project management capability
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
- Experience with structural modeling software (STAAD / SAP / etc.)
- Experience with AutoCAD
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and/or lead the development of technical proposals for maritime projects.
- Oversee engineering design teams to deliver integrated solutions for Ports and Maritime clients.
- Play a key technical role in new and ongoing projects for the Port of Virginia and other clients.
- Manage multiple tasks and project design teams independently.
- Collaborate in-person with the existing Ports and Maritime team and client base in the Virginia Beach area.
