Job description
Apple is seeking a highly self-motivated and collaborative software engineer to join their team focused on prototyping, integration, and productization of innovative software. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies such as computer vision, 3D graphics, and machine learning. The engineer will collaborate with Human Interface designers and ML researchers to create exciting new technologies for Apple's products. This position requires a strong background in software engineering and a passion for pushing technological boundaries.
Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 1 year of relevant experience in software engineering.
- Experience working with real-time data from cameras, IMUs, and other mobile device sensors.
- Strong proficiency in linear algebra and a solid understanding of 3D computer graphics and computer vision concepts.
- 5 or more years of software engineering experience with the technical concepts listed in the minimum qualifications.
- Experience developing high-performance software for mobile devices using Swift, SwiftUI, and/or Objective-C.
- Experience with SLAM, VIO, or 3D Augmented Reality frameworks such as RealityKit.
- Experience with GPU programming and the testing, integration, and deployment of Machine Learning models.
- Familiarity in Python for Machine Learning research prototypes, with experience porting to real-time mobile systems being a plus.
- Experience developing high-performance software for mobile devices using C++.
- Experience with iOS and/or macOS app development using Swift, SwiftUI, and Metal in Xcode.
- Fluency using AI coding assistants for tasks such as rapid prototyping.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly design, build, and iterate on end-to-end functional prototypes that explore new concepts and interface with cameras and other sensors.
- Collaborate closely with Human Interface designers, ML researchers, and cross-functional teams to define and achieve project goals.
- Integrate and develop prototypes into optimized, production-ready frameworks that support new features.
- Triaging and debugging issues across both prototype and production software.
- Prototype polished, intuitive user interfaces at a quality level suitable for executive review.
