Job description

The Power Validation Engineer at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is a key member of the validation team within the Global SoC hardware organization. This role focuses on ensuring the quality of SoC silicon through post-silicon validation techniques for CPU, GPU, DDR, and NOC power at both core and system levels. The engineer will collaborate with architects, designers, and verification engineers to execute validation plans and optimize hardware and software for low power consumption. A strong understanding of digital design fundamentals and SoC architecture is essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Python or similar scripting languages for automation.
  • Familiarity with mobile chip architecture including CPU, GPU, DDR, and NOCs.
  • Basic RTL understanding and exposure to transistor power fundamentals.
  • Experience in silicon parametric testing or characterization is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Pre-Si and Post-Si power, thermal, and performance correlation, debug, and analysis at the system level across various SoC IPs.
  • Execute regression and PVT testing across different parts, lots, and wafers, analyzing the data to extract key metrics.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and verification engineers to define and execute comprehensive validation plans.
  • Document observations and analysis, proposing innovative solutions to optimize hardware and software.
  • Debug low-level software and hardware issues using various debug tools like JTAG and kernel debuggers.
  • Conduct Vmin/Fmax measurements and collect data for performance characterization.
  • Automate validation flows, data collection, and analysis using Python or similar scripting languages.
