Job description
As a CPU Performance Analysis Engineer at Qualcomm, you will focus on analyzing and tuning CPU performance through various methodologies including microbenchmark development and workload characterization. You will work closely with silicon and performance simulators to profile workload execution and identify performance improvement opportunities. The role requires a strong understanding of computer architecture and operating systems, along with scripting and programming skills. You will also develop tools for workload tracing and create competitive performance prediction models.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in system architecture technology areas and products.
- Strong grasp of computer architecture and OS fundamentals.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Perl, or Python.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and assembly language for x86 and ARM.
Responsibilities
- Collect CPU performance data for various workloads and benchmarks.
- Conduct detailed workload characterization on silicon and performance simulators.
- Profile workload execution and identify avenues for improving workload performance in software and hardware.
- Develop tools and techniques to collect representative workload traces for CPU performance simulation.
- Create micro-benchmarks to understand performance characteristics of competitor's CPU and SoC.
- Build competitive performance prediction models and present data concisely.
