Job description
Qualcomm is seeking a hands-on software engineer for its enterprise AI platform, focusing on knowledge retrieval engineering and agentic pipeline development. This fast-paced role involves rapid feature delivery, continuous iteration on pipelines, and the integration of agentic capabilities into existing solutions. The position requires full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA, and is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. The ideal candidate will work on enterprise-scale AI powered search systems and collaborate with various teams to deliver production-grade features.
Requirements
- Strong Python and Rust skills for data processing and application development
- Experience with search systems, including lexical and semantic search
- Understanding of machine learning fundamentals and NLP/embeddings
- Hands-on experience with RAG systems and LLM-based applications
- Experience building AI applications, including agentic AI workflows
- Experience with API/service development, particularly REST
- Solid understanding of agentic frameworks such as LangChain and Agno
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
Responsibilities
- Work on enterprise-scale AI powered search and retrieval systems supporting various downstream applications and agents
- Design and improve end-to-end pipelines from ingestion to retrieval with objective evaluation and test harnesses
- Develop and integrate APIs, services, and agent-tools to expose ML and AI capabilities
- Improve retrieval relevance, chunking strategies, and embedding quality
- Evaluate and debug search quality issues, including hallucinations and grounding failures
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to deliver production-grade enterprise features
