The Senior Software Development Engineer role on the Amazon OpenSearch Service team focuses on building a cloud-scale search and analytics platform. The team is dedicated to developing software that allows customers to efficiently index, search, and analyze large volumes of data. Candidates will work on challenging problems in distributed systems and AI, while also contributing to open-source software. This position offers the opportunity to lead design decisions and mentor other engineers in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support a world-class search platform serving customers of all sizes
- Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java and Python
- Work on OpenSearch open-source software with opportunities to contribute upstream
- Lead architecture and design decisions, and mentor other engineers on the team
- Challenge existing systems and explore changes to meet evolving customer needs
- Drive algorithm and architecture design, execute, and deliver results
- Invent the future of search and analytics in the cloud
