Job description

The Systems Development Engineer I role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting resilient cloud computing solutions for U.S. Intelligence Community and Defense agencies. The position is part of a dynamic team within the AI/ML U.S. Amazon Dedicated Cloud organization, which delivers advanced AI and machine learning capabilities in secure environments. Candidates will work on mission-critical services, contributing to the development of high-performance systems while gaining experience in cloud technologies. This role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or CND (Certified Network Defender) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials)
  • Strong Linux and Networking Fundamentals with deep experience in large-scale, distributed environments
  • 1+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering
  • 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of technology solutions that improve resilience, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Work on well-defined components and technology solutions with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Identify and escalate ambiguous problems and architectural deficiencies.
  • Participate in design, scoping, and prioritization discussions.
  • Participate in reviews of architecture, design, operations, and post-incident analysis.
  • Troubleshoot problems by researching root causes and resolving defects.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical services.
