Job description

The Systems Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on building and delivering next-generation cloud computing security solutions. You will work closely with both internal and external customers to execute projects and resolve issues in a dev-ops environment. This position offers the opportunity to impact large-scale systems while collaborating with top engineers in the industry. The role requires a strong ownership bias and a commitment to continuous improvement in service engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
  • Knowledge of networking, security, databases (relational or NoSQL), and operating systems (Unix, Linux, and/or Windows).
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.
  • 1+ years of development/programming/scripting language experience in Python, Java, Bash, or Perl.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Amazon's largest customers to address specific needs across a full suite of services.
  • Dive deep into technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with empowered engineers to meet world-class challenges.
  • Continuously improve processes and systems to enhance service delivery.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
