Job description

The Fleet Remediation Project Design Mechanical Engineer will lead design projects in operational data centers to address issues, upgrade infrastructure, and add new services. This role is part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which is responsible for maintaining the global cloud infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure safety, security, and efficiency while supporting the expansion of AWS data centers. Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects for existing data center upgrades and new infrastructure solutions.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in the assigned region.
  • Interface with internal and external teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects across different geographical regions.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert during new remediation projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover of projects.
