Job description

The AWS Bug Bounty team is seeking a security engineer to enhance cloud security by triaging reports related to AWS's 200+ services. This role emphasizes strong security analytic skills and requires effective communication with both internal stakeholders and external researchers. The engineer will also focus on automating processes to improve efficiency and drive the development of the AWS researcher community. A strong sense of customer obsession is essential to ensure the security of Amazon and its customers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry-based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques
  • 2+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review in a common programming language
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience with AWS products and services
  • 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security

Responsibilities

  • Research, reproduce, and respond to security issues reported through the bug bounty program
  • Manage relationships with external security researchers working with AWS's bug bounty program
  • Perform deep analysis of new vulnerability classes
  • Drive improvements to team tooling, automation, and processes
  • Identify and drive resolution of vulnerability trends
  • Attend industry conferences and assist in hosting on-site hack-a-thons and other researcher engagement activities

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
