Job description

The Azure Storage team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on distributed storage systems, focusing on Index management and Garbage Collection. This role involves building and managing a highly scalable storage system that serves millions of requests per second. The engineer will have the opportunity to define project scope and architect solutions that can significantly impact the Azure Storage product. Candidates should be passionate about solving challenges related to durability, availability, and concurrency in distributed systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
  • Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
  • Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability.
  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders to drive project plans.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers in monitoring system/product/service for degradation.
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends and technical solutions to improve product performance.
