Job description

The AI Platform and Services VP at Marcus by Goldman Sachs will lead the development of agentic AI solutions to enhance program delivery and manage production environments. This role focuses on leveraging AI models to address runtime challenges and improve productivity. The position requires collaboration with production engineers and application teams to translate operational pain points into actionable AI roadmaps. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and software development, with a commitment to safety and governance in AI systems.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a computational field, with a Masters or PhD preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as an applied data scientist or machine learning engineer.
  • 5+ years of software development experience in languages such as Python, C/C++, Go, or Java.
  • Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications.
  • Understanding of applied statistics, core ML concepts, algorithms, and data structures.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement tool-calling agents that follow MCP protocol.
  • Build evaluation frameworks for open-source and foundational LLMs.
  • Connect agents to observability and incident management systems.
  • Partner with production engineers to define objective functions linked to reliability and cost.
  • Build validator models and enforce safety and governance checks.
  • Optimize cost and latency through prompt engineering and model routing.
  • Curate domain knowledge and establish feedback loops for knowledge maintenance.
  • Drive design reviews and mentor peers on agent architectures and evaluation methodologies.
