Job description

The Senior Highway Design Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on delivering impactful infrastructure projects in Nashville, Tennessee. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee, or ability to obtain within six months if licensed in another state.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in roadway and highway design, including experience delivering transportation projects for DOT clients.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical expertise to lead and support roadway design efforts for transportation clients in Tennessee.
  • Prepare and assist in developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway and highway improvement projects.
  • Review roadway, bridge, and transportation design plans for conformance with contractual and state/federal agency requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teammates and subconsultants to ensure cohesive project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with TDOT personnel and local agency representatives throughout project development and delivery.
  • Contribute to QA/QC processes to support high-quality engineering output.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers to support overall team growth.
  • Support business development efforts, including client relationship building and proposal generation.
