Job description

The Senior Structural Engineer role at Jacobs involves designing structural systems for various building types, including airports and government facilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis, Master’s degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of relevant buildings-related structural design experience
  • Proficiency with structural design and analysis software such as ETABS, RISA, STAAD.Pro, and RAM
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • United States citizenship due to Federal client requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction
  • Lead and mentor other structural engineers and BIM designers through project execution
  • Design and analyze structures to meet project-specific and code requirements utilizing finite element analysis and hand calculations
  • Develop clear and comprehensive calculations, basis of design documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Perform construction administration activities including review of submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings
  • Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines
  • Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, and project management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project managers
