Job description

The Retail Capacity Control team at Amazon is seeking a software engineer to develop high-availability software systems that enhance the supply chain through mathematical modeling and data analysis. The role focuses on solving complex supply chain problems with a significant customer impact. The team values innovation and collaboration, expecting engineers to take ownership of product vision and project delivery. Candidates should be passionate about leveraging AI and automation to improve software engineering workflows.

Requirements

  • A track record of delivering results on complex technical projects.
  • Experience with optimization techniques or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize across competing demands.
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, deploy, maintain, document, and deliver large-scale management systems.
  • Build solutions using Java, object-oriented design patterns, NoSQL databases, and data modeling techniques.
  • Gather and analyze business and functional requirements, translating them into technical design specifications.
  • Produce comprehensive software documentation and leverage AI assistants to maintain living documentation.
  • Evaluate and integrate AI/ML models into production systems, understanding their limitations.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
