The International Intelligence Engineering team is seeking an experienced and motivated international ML engineering leader to drive the development of end-user intelligence features for various platforms. This role focuses on enhancing the international customer experience by collaborating with diverse teams and leveraging large language models. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for Apple's products. This position involves leading a team to implement and evaluate international features across Apple's product ecosystem.

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning or equivalent experience
• Experience leading large cross-functional software engineering projects with significant international impact
• Experience with Machine Learning, particularly with Large Language Models and Natural Language Processing
• Proven ability to understand and apply cutting-edge research to consumer-oriented products
• Experience influencing cross-functional and cross-cultural partners at multiple organizational levels
• Experience writing effective executive status updates
• Proficiency using open-source ML toolkits and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Strong programming skills in Python, Swift, C or C++
• Experience in software localization and internationalization
• Native-level foreign language skills in reading, writing, and speaking

• Collaborate with feature teams to drive the international customer experience for intelligence features
• Provide leadership and direction to team members including engineers, project managers, and language experts
• Regularly assess feature internationalization readiness and progress
• Author weekly executive status updates and represent international engineering in leadership meetings
• Review and drive statistical evaluation result improvements across locales
• Advocate for international customers and ML best practices in meetings
• Communicate with other International Engineering Leads and project managers to drive efficiencies and share best practices
• Build tools and prototypes to advance intelligence features at scale
• Lead the exploration and application of Large Language Models for localization and internationalization tasks
• Mentor other engineers and colleagues
