Job description

The Senior Software Engineering Manager for GCE, Resource and Service Orchestration at Google is responsible for leading a high-performing engineering team that manages Compute Engine resources globally. This role involves defining the technical roadmap and overseeing the deployment of large-scale projects, particularly in AI and infrastructure innovations. The manager will work closely with product management and other teams to ensure reliability and efficiency in service delivery. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to guide engineers across multiple locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Define the multi-year technical roadmap and architectural goal for Zone and Cluster Services managing Google Compute Engine resources.
  • Lead initiatives to empower customers leveraging Tensor Processing Unit and Graphics Processing Unit at unprecedented scale.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing distributed engineering team across multiple geographic regions.
  • Oversee system health, performance improvements, and critical initiatives to guarantee maximum uptime.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and other infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and efficient massive-scale AI and Infrastructure innovations.
