Job description

The Robotics Automation Engineer will join Google's Physical Infrastructure Robotics team, focusing on implementing robotics technologies to enhance operations within data centers. This role involves collaborating with hardware, software, and system engineers to develop innovative solutions for automation. The engineer will lead various robotics engineering disciplines to ensure seamless product integration and operational efficiency. The position requires hands-on interaction with hardware in a simulated data center environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in mechatronics engineering and robotics product development.
  • Experience deploying full-stack robotics systems.
  • Experience with robotics applications development or transitioning R&D projects into deployed systems.
  • Experience with robotic control, planning, kinematics, or mechatronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the strategy for the robotics stack by leveraging architectures and design systems for data center automation.
  • Engage with cross-functional partners to identify automation opportunities and gaps in current designs.
  • Lead hardware architecture reviews with software and system teams to address potential design gaps.
  • Participate in design reviews to document design decisions, specifications, test procedures, and results.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external partners throughout the development life-cycle.
