Job description
The Senior Manufacturing Optimization Engineer will join the Cummins team in Plainfield, IN, focusing on enhancing manufacturing processes. This role emphasizes operational excellence through the application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. The engineer will work collaboratively to drive improvements in equipment effectiveness and production systems. The position requires a strong commitment to continuous improvement and customer-centric execution.
Requirements
- A strong ability to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness by reducing scrap and optimizing cycle times.
- Capability to assess, select, and integrate Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Deep experience leading Kaizen events and applying Lean tools.
- Commitment to identifying inefficiencies and implementing structured improvement methodologies.
- Strong command of CAD tools, Oracle, SolidWorks, and ERP/MES platforms.
- A background in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, with an MBA or MS preferred.
- A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex operational data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- College, university or equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience required.
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience, including manufacturing or manufacturing plant experience.
