Job description
The Field Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on supporting the Amtrak ADA Stations Program by overseeing construction projects that enhance accessibility for intercity rail systems. This position requires significant on-site presence, with approximately 80% of the time spent monitoring contractors' performance and ensuring compliance with contract specifications. The successful candidate will work closely with the Contracting Official’s Technical Representative and contribute to a culture of safety and quality assurance. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in construction oversight and a commitment to improving community infrastructure.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a field inspector providing construction oversight and inspection experience on site development for transportation projects.
- Construction oversight and inspection experience with a focus on facility renovation, historic preservation, rail transportation, and ADA compliance.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project locations in the continental U.S. approximately 80% of working time.
- Possess a valid driving license and satisfactory driving record.
- Strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site construction monitoring of several concurrent construction contracts from mobilization through final acceptance.
- Prepare reports and documentation of the contractor's work and provide technical advice to the COTR/RE.
- Verify the contractor's work is in conformance with applicable contract drawings and specifications.
- Perform on-site quality oversight inspections of the contractor's work.
- Document on-site activities and deviations from contract requirements in daily inspection reports.
- Assist with post-construction assessments to verify compliance with the contract and the ADA.
- Retain all project reports and documentation in the Unifier document control system.
- Participate in weekly contract progress meetings.
- Inspect the contractor's performance of warranty work during the contract's warranty period.
