Job description
The Structural Engineer position at Jacobs focuses on designing structural systems for various building types, including airports and government facilities. The role is part of the Federal Solutions design team located in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will collaborate with a diverse team of architects and engineers to deliver innovative solutions. This position requires a self-motivated professional with extensive experience in structural engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis, Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 10+ years of relevant buildings-related structural design experience.
- Proficiency with structural design and analysis software such as ETABS, RISA, STAAD.Pro, and RAM.
- Thorough knowledge of building codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- United States citizenship due to Federal client requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
- Lead and mentor other structural engineers and BIM designers through project execution.
- Design and analyze structures to meet project-specific and code requirements.
- Develop clear and comprehensive calculations, basis of design documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform construction administration activities including review of submittals and RFIs.
- Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines.
- Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, and project management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project managers.
