Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer in Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation team, you will play a crucial role in delivering the infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud services. This position involves working with a team of experts to support the operations of large-scale mechanical systems in data centers. You will focus on ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency in mechanical designs and operations. The role also emphasizes environmental sustainability and continuous improvement in data center operations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 1+ years of related technical engineering experience, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2+ years of related technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Candidates must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center activities.
  • Understand the design and functionality of the data center.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Design team to develop mechanical designs for new data center projects and major infrastructure upgrades.
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures for high-capacity cooling systems and backup electrical systems.
  • Act as the technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs.
  • Assist with supplier selection and oversee mechanical supplier execution.
