Job description

The Senior Software Engineer role at Microsoft focuses on developing reliable, scalable, and secure distributed cloud services within the Microsoft Entra ID team. This team is integral to Microsoft's cloud strategy, providing authentication and authorization services for millions of users. The position emphasizes collaboration across engineering, product, and design to enhance user experiences while maintaining high performance and availability. Candidates will also mentor fellow engineers and promote the use of AI to improve productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design, development, and operation of distributed services processing millions of requests per second at 99.999% availability.
  • Partner across engineering, product, and design to build customer-facing experiences that simplify complex workflows.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents and participate in on-call rotation for mission-critical services.
  • Drive performance analysis and optimization to meet low single-digit millisecond latency targets.
  • Champion engineering quality through automated testing and ensure services are clean and well-tested.
  • Strengthen observability by improving telemetry, tracing, and diagnostics for rapid incident detection.
  • Mentor engineers on the team through code reviews and design guidance.
  • Evangelize the usage of AI to increase productivity and quality on the team.
