Job description

This role is for a Software Engineer II who will design, build, and operate scalable services for mission-critical cloud services at Microsoft. The position involves working with experienced engineers to tackle complex distributed systems challenges while ensuring high reliability and performance. The engineer will contribute to architectural decisions and own end-to-end components, enhancing their technical growth in cloud infrastructure and data platforms. The role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph).
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role.
  • Verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
  • Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
  • Contribute to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provide estimation.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
  • Remain current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.
