Job description
The Open Connect Control Plane team at Netflix is seeking talented Distributed Systems Software Engineers to develop scalable and reliable systems for the global Content Delivery Network. This role focuses on building high-scale services, operational excellence, and data analysis to enhance the Quality-of-Experience for Netflix members. Engineers will tackle complex challenges related to resource availability and system performance. The team values diversity and aims to foster an inclusive environment while pushing the boundaries of technology and creativity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Java.
- Experience in building and operating business-critical, real-time systems at scale.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, including stateful and stateless systems.
- Experience with data querying and analysis from large-scale data lakes using tools like Python, SQL, and Spark SQL.
Responsibilities
- Build high-scale and resilient cloud services that enhance user experience.
- Develop tools and mechanisms for operational excellence in real-time systems.
- Create large-scale distributed software systems and data pipelines for data organization and analysis.
- Design models and systems to adapt to resource availability and changing demand in real-time.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
