Job description

The Network Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on delivering sustainable solutions for next-generation IP networks. This position is part of the Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team, which is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of AWS's global networking infrastructure. Engineers will collaborate with various teams to ensure efficient network operations and support large-scale deployments. The role emphasizes innovation, automation, and maintaining high standards for network performance and security.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • 4+ years of network engineering and deployments for large-scale networks in a corporate environment
  • 4+ years of technical support experience or experience taking ownership and driving resolution on escalated customer issues
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and Network Security architecture
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with networking and/or systems technologies

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, and scaling.
  • Create and implement changes on the network.
  • Lead network projects in network sustaining engineering and optimization.
  • Sustain AWS's next generation networks by providing critical network support.
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing and performance issues.
  • Drive and support innovation across the network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Network/Infrastructure teams to ensure smooth roll-out of new designs.
  • Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance.
  • Create and review documentation regarding network implementations and processes.
