Job description
The WebKit Performance team is seeking a passionate engineer focused on software optimization to enhance one of the most widely used frameworks globally. This role involves improving the performance of WebKit, which is essential for rendering web content on Apple platforms. The engineer will work on optimizing launch speed, processing speed, memory usage, and power consumption. Additionally, the position includes diagnosing performance issues and mentoring others in performance improvement techniques.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Expertise in C++
- Experience with software performance measurement, analysis, and optimization
- Detailed understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Experience with pointers, memory management, threads, and processes
- At least 4 years of prior hands-on iOS or macOS application development
- Experience with Objective-C, Swift, and Cocoa APIs
- Experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG, WebGL, and WebGPU
- Experience with UIKit and AppKit
- Excellent debugging, analysis, communication, and critical thinking skills
Responsibilities
- Seek opportunities to improve WebKit performance as measured by execution time, memory consumption, and power use
- Diagnose performance issues identified in benchmarks and web applications
- Identify and correct recent performance regressions
- Help train and mentor others in performance improvement techniques
