Job description
The AWS Controls Team is seeking a candidate to innovate, deploy, optimize, and maintain automation systems within AWS data centers. This role involves working with a diverse team of experts in the data center industry, focusing on building management systems and electrical power monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction management, mechanical, electrical, or technology fields, and will be responsible for aligning automation with business objectives. The position requires travel and a valid driver's license.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers or pharmaceuticals.
- 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience associated with construction and project execution.
- Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage the scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for AWS data center construction.
- Ensure data center controls are deployed in accordance with the scope of work and specifications.
- Review and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
- Develop controls bill of material.
- Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate difficult situations.
- Work under tight project timelines.
- Financially manage both construction and service contracts.
- Act in a project sponsor or lead capacity.
- Provide vendor management.
- Develop scope of work for site improvement projects.
- Provide technical assistance and support to internal customers during the data center lifecycle.
- Perform controls root cause analysis for service of controls for AWS data centers.
- Schedule and supervise quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS.
- Review controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
- Participate in a global on-call schedule.
- Grow in technical ability by learning various automation platforms.
- Develop building automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Size controls valves and damper actuators and select controls devices.
- Develop and modify control logic programming.
- Develop and modify graphical user interfaces.
