Job description
The Network Development Engineer role at AWS involves building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS and its customers across multiple global datacenters. Requirements
- 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 3+ years of work in large-scale networking environments experience
- 4+ years of network and operating system support experience, or Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM field
- 4+ years of technical support experience, or experience taking ownership and driving resolution on escalated customer issues
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- Knowledge of networking protocols, to include HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP
- Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
- Experience with systems administration, programming or networking
- Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as bash and python
Responsibilities
- Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, and technology refresh.
- Create and implement changes on the network.
- Work closely with automation teams to define scaling tools.
- Lead network projects in areas such as network deployment and optimization.
- Sustain AWS's next generation networks by providing critical support during large-scale networking events.
- Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues.
- Drive and support innovation across the network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Network/Infrastructure teams on engineering and configuration standards.
- Ensure compliance with networking toolset standards and policies.
- Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Create and review documentation regarding network implementations and procedures.
