Job description

Qualcomm is seeking a Principal Engineer for Team SPARK, which is focused on leading the Generative AI transformation across CPSG. The role emphasizes defining and scaling AI-first engineering practices to enhance developer productivity, software quality, and innovation. This position requires a hands-on leader who can translate AI capabilities into secure engineering workflows. The Principal Engineer will collaborate with various teams to shape strategy and accelerate the adoption of AI technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years, or a PhD with 6+ years.
  • 4+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Demonstrated Principal-level technical leadership and organization-scale impact.
  • Deep expertise in Generative AI and AI/ML fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the GenAI transformation roadmap for engineering productivity across CPSG.
  • Lead AI-native and agentic SDLC initiatives across various software development processes.
  • Partner with GenAI platform and engineering teams to build reusable AI assets and tools.
  • Establish secure and responsible AI practices across governance and data handling.
  • Define metrics and dashboards to track AI adoption and productivity gains.
