Job description

The Associate-level position in the Consumer team at Morgan Stanley's Equity Research department involves researching macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions and analyzing company fundamentals. Candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence and a passion for the markets, as well as the ability to leverage AI tools for research efficiency. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in equity research or investment banking.
  • Proven experience using Excel to build and maintain three-statement financial models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in public markets and stock performance.
  • Comfort adopting AI-enabled tools and new technologies.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure.
  • High EQ, strong personal drive, energy, creativity, curiosity, organization, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with Python is a plus but not required.
  • CFA designation or progress toward CFA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain financial and industry models.
  • Translate data into insightful research reports with clear investment debates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with management of companies under coverage.
  • Engage with institutional investors by addressing bespoke requests.
  • Support internal sales and trading teams with timely analysis of sector breaking news.
  • Adopt and apply AI-enabled research tools to improve research efficiency.
  • Conduct industry diligence and primary research to evaluate industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce larger industry reports.
