Job description
The AirPods Firmware team is seeking a firmware engineer to develop platform technologies and drive system integration for AirPods. This individual contributor role offers the chance to influence Apple's consumer audio product roadmap while collaborating with a diverse team. The engineer will work on a range of technologies, from low-level architecture to product-specific features. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for success in this high-impact role.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of proven excellence in firmware, embedded software, embedded product development, or equivalent experience
- Solid C/C++ coding abilities
- Strong embedded system design and software debugging skills
- Experience with MCUs, peripherals, features, and development environments
- Passion for product ownership and a track record of product development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is a plus
- Familiarity with real-time audio technologies such as sample rates, buffering, I2S, PCM, and drivers is a plus
- Knowledge of USB or wireless technologies is a plus
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and deliver platform and product firmware for Apple's audio products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define future product features
- Influence the technology and product roadmap for consumer audio products
- Work across a range of technologies from low-level system architecture to product-specific features
