The Optical Engineer will join the Camera Hardware Engineering group at Apple, focusing on advanced optical technology development. This team is responsible for the research, design, development, testing, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. The role requires a strong background in optics and experience with lens design and characterization. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the integration of camera lenses into modules.

• Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing, or a similar field.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with lens design, optical metrology, and tolerance analysis.
• Proficiency with ZEMAX, CODE V, FRED, and LightTool.
• Experience in stray light analysis.
• Working knowledge of thin film physics and fabrication.
• Working knowledge of optomechanics.
• Working knowledge of CAD software and understanding of optical components drawing.

• Perform comprehensive optical and image quality characterization of the lens and camera module.
• Support metrology methodology for camera lens testing and develop appropriate test charts and methods for camera evaluation.
• Interface with the assembly and packaging groups to support the integration of camera lenses into modules.
• Track and contribute to imaging-related innovations.
